B2Gold wurde 2007 vom ehemaligen Team von Bema Gold, das damals von Kinross übernom­men wurde, ge­gründet. Dadurch kann B2Gold vom umfangreichen
Erfahrungsschatz eines hervorra­genden Manage­ments profitieren. Kein Wunder, dass das Unternehmen seine Ziele für 2010 mit Bravour erfüllen konnte. So hat die Tagebaumine Orosi (jetzt: La­Libertad­Mi­ne) zu Jahresbeginn mit der Produktion
begonnen.

Damit verfügt B2Gold nun be­reits über zwei fördernde Minen in Nica­ragua sowie weitere Entwicklungs­ und Explorationsprojekte in Nicaragua, Ko­lumbien, Costa Rica und Uruguay. Zuletzt glänzte B2Gold mit starken Quartalszahlen. Bereits im vierten Quar­tal in Folge gelang es der Gesellschaft, die Produktion zu steigern und die Kos­ten zu senken. Im Septemberquartal erreichte die Goldförderung mit 30.700 Unzen zu Cashkosten von 517 Dollar je Unze sogar einen neuen Rekord.
